Toh Chia Hua @ Toh Wee Hua

Toh Chia Hua was called to the Malaysian Bar in May, 2003. He chambered at Azman Davidson & Co in 2003 and later joined the firm.

Career Highlights

  • Was lead counsel at the Court of Appeal in his fourth year of practice in the year 2006. The case involved a dispute between a husband and wife over a property, where the wife successfully defeated the husband’s claim that the property was held by the wife on trust for the husband. The Court of Appeal upheld the High Court decision which agreed with the client’s contention that the property was purchased and registered under the wife’s name as a gift
  • Has been engaged by other firms as external counsel to conduct lengthy trials involving contract and construction disputes. The longest trial period lasted 31 days and involved voluminous documents. Meticulous and thorough preparation, a good strategy for victory as well as solid teamwork all helped lead to a successful outcome


  • Assisted in an insurance claim matter relating to contractor’s all risks policy involving an amount of RM20 million
  • Acted in a litigation involving house owners and management corporations
  • Acted in contested bankruptcy matters
  • Acted on tort litigation matters, particularly in relation to general negligence and nuisance
  • Conducted administrative law proceedings
  • Acted in general litigation including debt recovery for major banks and other financial institutions, hire purchase matters and taxation of costs


  • In addition to his legal qualifications, Toh has a Master of Science (Construction Contract Management). He has also been involved in training and preparing secondary schools students for Mandarin debates.
